Happy Sunday! Today I thought I'd tell you about goals. Not that I have any but I hear that you are supposed to have some in order to retire in 29 Months. Well I do have a few, but they skirt the goals that I have to accomplish every day. I guess my job here is to slowly and methodically move them into my normal goal realm. Ah! Does that sound like a technical term or what?! My normal goal realm.
My normal goal realm includes getting up every morning and going to work for eight hours. During that eight hour period, I have work related goals. Lets go ahead and span that out a bit. I have the worst time in the world, just waking up! So let's say that during a normal work week my first goal is to get up on time in order to be at work on time. That's the bullseye of the normal goal realm.
There are outer circles of the normal goal realm. They include all the tasks involved at work. Trying to focus on them and not think about what the wind is doing outside. As the day progresses and I get to go home, my final work related goal is joining thousands of commuters head back to Delaware from Columbus, Ohio. When I first started working in Columbus, it took thirty minutes to go to work and thirty to go home. Now it takes at least fourty-five minutes each way and God forbid that ODOT should attempt to confuse the drivers with all those funny orange barrels and gorgeous men in flourescent green muscle shirts.
Okay, lets get back to moving new retirement goals into the normal realm goals. I have recognized that like the typical eight to five work day, I have to reserve chunks of time for my retirement goals.
I've begun by setting a two hour block of time for retirement goals. As I work around those goals and merge them into my day, I will add some more. I don't have too much spare time to work with but when you want something bad enough, it gets under your skin and motivates you from the inside.
Thanks for stopping by.
